Web Hosting for Bloggers

Internet has become my daily companion. I use it to keep in touch with my family and friends in other countries, I use it to know more about current events and research. And for the past four years, I use it to document my life through blogging. Blogging is now a part of me. I started with just one blog, but later on, I find it therapeutic so I put up other blogs with different topics like food , fashion and shopping. Writing what is on your mind and sharing you thoughts through your website is something that I see myself doing for many years. People usually ask me if it is easy to put up one. Well, at first , It is hard since I am not a techie at all. But thanks to the help of my dear friends who helped me set up my own site. They started by helping me out to find a good webhosting company to host my blog. There are many web hosting companies out there, and they offer different packages depending on your needs. Most of it offers 24/7 Technical Assistance which is very important in any site . You may check a list of trusted and professional web hosting companies online. Be sure to read more about what they offer and compare their pricing too. Now I am planning to set up a new blog for my kids. It's been a while since I blogged about them. They are growing fast, soon they might be blogging too.

Getting prescription glasses

I have been experiencing a series of headaches lately so I just stayed home to rest and drink some medicine too. I seldom experience headache not unless I am having a bad fever or my eyes are too tired from something. I relaxed and didn't work for 2 days , but still there is a minor headache and watery eyes. I knew then it has something to do with my eyes because I haven't had a check up with my ophthalmologist for quite a while. So I went there 2 days ago to have my eyes checked. My eyeglasses lenses needs an upgrade because my eyes vision grade got a little higher too. It's time to get new prescription glasses .

Getting a new prescription glass is easy for me because I choose simple and classic designs of eyeglasses. I want something that will match anything I plan to wear, may it be daytime or nighttime. At most times, I just order it online where I give them my doctor's prescription and choose an eyeglasses that I like from their online gallery. And did I mention that they have really discounted eyeglasses online? My mom and my dad are also their loyal patrons. I am hoping that I wont have a series of headache anymore. It's quite a busy week coming and I need to get going.

Earthquake Safety

With the recent events that shook off the world, I searched the internet for some tips on What to Do During an Earthquake. It is always best to be informed and be guided accordingly.

Here is one article I found really helpful. Read on and take note of the important things we should do Should an earthquake occur.

  • DROP to the ground; take COVER by getting under a sturdy table or other piece of furniture; and HOLD ON until the shaking stops. If there isn’t a table or desk near you, cover your face and head with your arms and crouch in an inside corner of the building.
  • Stay away from glass, windows, outside doors and walls, and anything that could fall, such as lighting fixtures or furniture.
  • Stay in bed if you are there when the earthquake strikes. Hold on and protect your head with a pillow, unless you are under a heavy light fixture
  • Stay inside until shaking stops and it is safe to go outside.
  • DO NOT use the elevators, even if they are working. There may be aftershocks.
And most importantly, stay calm and focused during any emergency. I know it is quite hard, but once you start to panic, things get even worse.

Japan Earthquake + Tsunami 2011

This is really heartbreaking.

Ever since the news erupted, I was glued watching CNN. My heart goes to the people of Japan. May God be your light during this really dark times. The whole world is now offering prayers for this country and it's people. It is not easy to see your house being washed away.. not easy to lose a loved one. May we all pray for those who cannot be found , and to those whose lives were taken last Friday.

Be still , Mother Earth.

Let us pray for the world.

Accidents everywhere

Accidents happen when we least expect it. This is why people are always advised to take extra care and be on the safe side at most times. This reminded me of my husband's accident last New Year's eve when a stray bullet hit his right ring finger while he was taking pictures outside our house. I was thankful then to everyone who prayed for us . It was a great thing we had a medical card that handled all our expenses.

This is also same with the case of personal injuries. I have read that there are even legal professionals who can take care of your case like the Austin personal injury lawyer who has been helping out individuals with these cases. The Law Firm has a team of highly skilled and professional lawyers that can certainly handle your cases. Now, getting legal help is easy, you can even reach them through the internet.

No man is an island

This is a very timely post from http://thingsweforget.blogspot.com/ . I regularly visit their site for some great inspirational quotes and reminders in life.

I am still very devastated with the News from Japan. There's a lot of tweets and videos in You Tube of what really happened in residential and commercial offices. Let us all continue to pray for everyone there. To those who are missing... to those whose life was taken away.. i pray that God will continue to be with you.

Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan

After my son's party in school,I was so shocked to hear the news about Japan. I tuned in to CNN for the live feeds. It's so heartbreaking :( The 8.9 quake devastated parts of the country and killed lives. There are tsunami alerts in Taiwan, Philippines, Hawaii, New Zealand and the West Coast of the US.

Our prayers are stronger than any tsunami. Lets pray for our brothers and sisters in Japan. May the damage stop and may it not hit other countries anymore :(
Trust in the Lord, His mantle of protection will shield us from any harm.. forever.

Ways to Go Green

Our world is definitely changing. It is not what it used to be when we were kids and the effects of what we have done and are doing to the environment are manifesting already. We feel climate changes – extremes in weather condition, landslides, flooding, drought, and natural disasters occurring in more frequency. Environmentalists say that if we do not make any drastic changes to how we live and consume things from the environment, our children will be left with nothing – no trees and no clean water – by the time they grow up.

Most countries are implementing new policies that specifically are targeted for taking care of the environment. Going green has become the trend and a preferred and much promoted way of living. The word eco-friendly are being used by businesses as these types of products usually gain the most support. You cannot overlook the fact that buyers these days know about the environmental problems and prefer to shop greener.

So how do you shop greener?

1.Start by supporting local green stores, farmers and suppliers. Community farming and produce is being advocated in different states. If you buy local, you save on pricing because deliveries do not use that much gas (if at all) and in the case of the quality of the food, you get it fresher. If you support your local farmers, you give them lesser chances of using preservatives because their fresh and organic produce sell.

2. If you are an avid book reader, consider borrowing titles from the library or make a book group that can exchange paperbacks weekly. A great way to acquire new books is to check second-hand book dealers and Ebay.

3.Green Pages are in! Just search for “Green Pages” in your search engine and environmental-friendly businesses pop-up! Support those who love the environment.

4.Be educated. Seek out greener alternatives to what you would normally use at home and take time to find eco-friendly product alternatives.

5.Start small. You can opt to bring your own bags when you shop and decline getting a bag with your orders. You can also opt not to get any bags when you have just ordered a small thing and just put it in your bad.

6.Shop for recycled and recyclable items. It ends up being cheaper.

7.Stocks on green items – reusable coffee mugs, reusable shopping bags, rechargeable batteries, renewable cloth diapers, cloth towels and napkins instead of paper towels.

8.Green fashion finds – There are such things are green leather bags! Accessories made of cotton, bamboo and natural materials and do not need harsh chemicals while manufacturing which can eventually harm the environment too.

If you think about, if ever consumer spends a portion of their money on buying green products, for example as small as 10%, it will place more money on green businesses, who in turn can produce more green products and eventually help more people and help preserve the environment.

If you have no ideas for green living, you are wrong. The simple words – Reduce, reuse and recycle are your best help to the environment. Garbage segregation is also a tremendous help!
